Default A Time to Reflect

A Time to Reflect

Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.
2 Timothy 2:7 (NIV)

If you visit Mount Rainier, take time to drive three miles past Paradise until you come to the Reflection Lakes. There your enjoyment of Rainier’s grandeur will be doubled, because its majestic slopes are duplicated on the canvas of the waters. If you can’t visit the Pacific Northwest this fall, don’t worry. Reflecting lakes are everywhere. They are God’s mirrors, allowing us to take in His creation from two perspectives at once.

The word reflect means to “reproduce,” to cast back an image. It also means to “meditate, ponder,” and “think.” When we reflect, we’re looking at something a second time, taking it in, studying it again, pondering.
This is a good season to review your life and reflect on God’s mercies. Take time to ponder the mountaintops of His unchangeable nature, the treetops of His lofty reign, the colors of His grace, the clouds of His anticipated return. Take time to meditate on a verse He’s given you or a Scripture you’re memorizing.

Reflect on all this, and the Lord will give you fresh insights for living.

Reflect upon your present blessings—of which every man has many—not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.
