This expresses what I have been trying to do for my depression, getting out of myself, getting out of my apartment, exercise and be with other people. Me alone with me is bad company, especially when stinking thinking starts. I have to get rid of the darkness so the light of reason can shine.

"Those of us who have come to make regular use of prayer would no more do without it than we would refuse air, food, or sunshine. And for the same reason. When we refuse air, light, or food, the body suffers. And when we turn away from meditation and prayer, we likewise deprive our minds, our emotions, and our intuitions of vitally needed support. It is important for me to remember that this is a four-fold disease and that I need to feed my body, mind and spirit.
So many of my years were spent not being conscious of God and unaware of the void in my life. I just saw myself as dying.
