Default First Time In A Long Time

We've all been very busy living our life centered on what we all wanted, and very few of us ever took the time to notice what we needed, and even if we did, it was usually lost to what we wanted. This went on and on until the neglect of our needs is obvious to ourselves and everyone else. Making this even more painful was the added awareness we could do nothing on our own, to change all of this because it was not part of what we wanted. What a terrible mess we find ourselves in one that none of us ever set out to get ourselves in. This is how our problem that we all share works on us by getting us to ignore our basic human needs and keeps us chasing after trying to fulfill our wants, which leaves all of us empty, broken and ruined. In recovery we get a chance to sort all this out, learning that it's okay that we have wants, but that it's more important for us to learn to pay attention to our needs, and to try to have some kind balance between the two. This is where most of us start to open the door of being able to love ourselves again, for the first time in a long time, we ask what do I need ?
