Awareness

Was just on the phone with a friend and we were sharing about how grateful we were that we have been given the awareness in our life and given freedom of choice.

I can choose to ignore them or I can pick up the tools of recovery and change the situation.

I included a gift for her cat and she phoned me to say how please he was with it. She had often bought him toys before and he had ignored them, but the toy mouse and musical ball had kept him entralled since he got them.

I have never seen the cat, yet when I was leaving the store the other day, I saw the gifts for pets and got the thought to buy it. I was glad that I listened to myself. That voice is always there, it is up to be to be aware of it and either accept it, deny it, or ignore it.

She will be married 40 years to her alcoholic this month. To me, she is special. She has been in the program for three years and has come along way. The holidays are not always a good time for her. Hopefully, this year will be different.

Something I wrote on another site in 2007

The five As of change. Aware of having a problem/situation, Admit that I have one to my God and to another human being, Accept it for what it is in today, knowing it is subject to change. Take Action to change my attitude or in some cases, change my attitude so I can action. The action if generally go to a meeting, talk to my sponsor and apply the Steps to my life.
