Words Of Wisdom 101

Humility is an absence of pride.
• Pride produces: Anger, jealousy, discontent in life, bitterness and greed.
• Pride comes in levels, levels that compound and worsen as we revel in them.
• Pride is a sickness that infects. It causes shame, isolation, and fear. Pride was the first sin, Adam and Eve sought to be like God, and then experienced the consequences and effects of their pride and sin.

What is humility?
Humility is an inner dependence that
renounces to the Lord and ourselves
our attitude of self sufficiency.
• Independence usurps Gods position
as judge of our lives, the lives of others, and of life.
• Humility is intentional, and forces us
to depend on God for everything.
• Before honor and blessing must
come humility and dependence.
Even Christ endured the cross before glory.

"Blessed is the man who makes
the Lord his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
to those who go astray after a lie!"

"As for me, I am poor and needy,
but the Lord takes thought for me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
do not delay, O my God!"

I ask now that You will fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and pour upon me all the blessings of the kingdom of Jesus Christ. Grant me the grace to understand the truth of Your Word clearly, and to apply it in every area of my life. Give me words of hope and life, as You promised. Open and bless my lips so that I can speak to others with authority and power in Jesus’ name. Give me the boldness to be a faithful witness for Christ. Give me a love for all people, and a passion to share the love of Christ with them.:195:

Humility Prayer

God, I am far too often influenced by what others think of me.
I am always pretending to be either
richer or smarter or nicer than I really am.
Please prevent me from trying to attract attention.
Don’t let me gloat over praise on one hand or
be discouraged by criticism on the other.
Nor let me waste time weaving imaginary
situations in which the most heroic,
charming, witty person present is myself.
Show me how to be humble of heart, like you.:195:

Was told that humility was to "remain teachable." To be open to learning, not think I knew it all, and always to be open to new ideas, thoughts, and concepts and know that the end result was not doing, but my God at work in my life.

Many mix it up with humiliation. We experience enough of that prior to recovery. We need to stop playing God with our life and that of others.

Focusing on what we do is not such a big issue if it flows out of who we are! Eph. 2:10

We should use our debit card because my father owns the account!

He has given me FULL AUTHORIZATION!

It has an UNLIMITED SUPPLY!

Paul prayed prayers:
His prayer focused on enlightenment...
the need to know who we are! Eph. 2:10

His prayer he acknowledge that we belong to the father & he belongs to us! Eph. 3:14; 2:15-16; 3:18-21:195:

“I am Oz, the great and terrible,” the wizard face roared above the flames. “Who are you, whippersnapper?” “I am Dorothy, the small and meek,” she replied. Is that how you visualize your interactions when you dare to speak with God?

God doesn’t merely tolerate your “interruptions” in his daily business. He doesn’t resent your requests. He welcomes them. He commands them. In fact, he tips his hand and lets you know that he is pre-inclined to say yes to you. Here is Jesus’ challenge: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7,8).

You are not an alien or stranger in God’s presence anymore. Through your faith in Christ you are now family. You belong there. Act like you belong there. Be bold when you pray. Claim your blood-bought identity. You are not irritating God with your chutzpah. You are honoring his invitation and promise.

What do you need right now? Ask! Seek! Knock!:195:

Many years ago I was extremely negative because of the devastating abuse that had taken place in my past. The result was that I expected people to hurt me, and they did. I expected people to be dishonest, and they were. I was afraid to believe that anything good might happen.

I thought I was protecting myself from being hurt by not expecting anything good to happen. But when I really began to study the Word and trust God to restore me, I began to realize that all of my negativism had to go.

In Matthew 8:13, Jesus says that it will be done for us as we have believed. I believed everything was negative, so naturally many negative things happened to me. I decided I wanted positive things to happen to me, so I started believing positive things, and over time, received positive results!

Are you constantly experiencing negative things and wondering why? It could be time for you to start believing different things. Start trusting God and believing for the best. Then watch as He works things out for you according to your faith.

Prayer Starter: Holy Spirit, I want to get rid of all negativism and start believing for better things. Help me to stir up my faith, believing that You can do great things in my life:195: Author unknown.

We all fall into the trap of complaining about the things that are wrong. But complaining does nothing except discourage us even more. It changes nothing because there is no positive power in it.

Imagine what a mess the world would be if all God did was complain about everything that has gone wrong since He created it. But the Father doesn't complain. He continues to be good and work for justice. Evil is powerful, but good is more powerful.

We need to stop and realize that God has chosen to work on this earth through His children, you and me. His light is inside us and we can't afford to do nothing. We must let our light shine, no matter what, as we live our lives doing good in His name.

God is always there for us, we don't have to beg God to love or forgive us.
What we need to live this life with meaning and hope already belongs to
us, and it is given to us unconditionally by the God who never stops loving
us.

Whether I walk in darkness or light, you are there, my God and my Lord.
Thank you.Amen:195:

Here are 10 suggestions to help you develop and maintain a healthy self-image.
Read them slowly. Meditate on them regularly.

1. Hate your sin, but never hate yourself.
2. Be quick to repent.
3. When God gives you light, walk in it.
4. Stop saying negative things about yourself. God loves you and it's wrong to hate what He loves. He has great plans for you, so you're in conflict with Him when you speak negatively concerning your future.
5. Never be afraid to admit that you've made a mistake and don't always assume that when things go wrong, or always say, "It must be my fault."
6. Don't meditate excessively on what you've done, right or wrong; both of these activities keep your mind on you! Center your thoughts on Christ.
7. Take good care of yourself physically. Make the best of what God gave you to work with, but don't be obsessed with your appearance.
8. Never stop learning, but don't allow your education to become a point of pride. God doesn't use you because of what's in your head: He uses you because of what's in your heart.
9. Realize that your talents are a gift, not something you have manufactured yourself; never look down on people who can't do what you do.
10. Don't despise your weaknesses; they keep you dependent on God.

Sometimes we focus so much on proving what we believe to be
correct that we miss the amazing truth that God has known us from
the beginning. We never without God at any point of our existence.
We have always been held, loved, and led, and that will never change.
We are God's precious creations, and that alone gives us a future with hope.

You brought me into beings God, and have nurtured my journey and
held me in love. Amen.:195:

Like the thought, for so many years, I felt like I had to justify and rationalize my reason for being.

I don't have to prove anything. The people who knew me 22 years ago, can see the difference. When people see me, they don't see the pain. They see a person who has healed from that hopeless state of mind and body. I can still go back to that old way of thinking, sick and tired of being tired and sick. The difference in today is that I don't have to stay there. I can pray and pick up the tools of recovery.

There are four common categories of toxic thoughts. These are negative, fearful, discontented,
and critical. Chances are you are struggling with toxic thoughts in one or more of these four ways.
Don't let these toxic thoughts grab hold of you and consume you. The deeper you let them take root inside you,
the harder they will be to shake off. Identify those thoughts and reject them today.
The steps and working with a sponsor are the answer to helping me with these
categories of toxic thoughts and negativity in my life.

Give yourself time.
Take all the time you need. Emotional healing is a process; don’t rush yourself through it.
Don’t let others force you through it either. Moving on doesn't take a day; it takes lots
of little steps to be able to break free of your broken past and your wounded self.

Take today breath by breath, one step at a time. Never let trouble from the past
make you feel like you have a bad life now. Just because yesterday was painful
doesn't mean today will be too. Our wounds are often the openings into the
best and most beautiful part of us. Today you have a choice
to explore these parts of yourself. Give yourself the needed time and
permission to explore and heal.

A wise man once said, “Every new beginning comes
from some other beginning’s end.”
Today is a new beginning; treat it that way.
Stop thinking about what might have been and.
starting looking at what can be.

Say to yourself: “Dear Past, thank you for all the
life lessons you have taught me. Dear Future,
I am ready now!” Because a great beginning
always occurs at the exact moment you
thought would be the end of everything.
One day at a time.

Surrendering your life means:

Following God's lead without knowing where he's sending you;
Waiting for God's timing without knowing when it will come;
Expecting a miracle without knowing how God will provide;
Trusting God's purpose without understanding the circumstances.
You know you're surrendered to God when you rely
on God to work things out instead of trying to
manipulate others, force your agenda, and control the situation.
You let go and let God work. You don't have
to always be in charge. Instead of trying harder, you trust more.

You can choose to just get through the day, or you

January, 27th I celebrated my 60th birthday and it's
only through God grace I am clean and sober today.
I am a product of the late 60's,70's and 80's, and that
was the era of sex, drugs and rock n roll for me. I was
a hard rock guitar player during the 70's and that was
some real crazy times for me, I'm sure some
of you can identify. I didn't think I would live pass my 30's.
I was doing a vast amounts of drugs and alcohol which would
have killed the so called normal person a doctor once told me.
I'm saying all of this because, I'm so grateful to God, The
rooms of A.A. N.A. my sponsor, and my wonderful Daily
Recovery Reading Page Family for helping me stay sober one more day.

God Blessings to you all:169:

to the swift---that there is more to life than increasing
its speed. Let me look upward into the branches of

Missed your last post. I could identify, my mother died at the age of 40 and she didn't smoke, drink, and was a good Christian woman, which didn't say much for me.

I was a late bloomer, and I celebrated my teens in my late 20s and 30s. Went home to take care of my dad and he said, "What ever happened to you, you use to be such a quiet young thing? :)

In recovery, I had to heal that inner child and all the pain from abuse.

Fear is placing your faith in the "what ifs". So much of
our fears are focused on things that may or may
not happen. There is no reason to fear things that
might not even happen. Even people in the Bible
struggled in fearing their own "what ifs". In order to
face the "what ifs" of fear, you must acknowledge
your fear and choose to trust God.

From the Daily Word.

GRATITUDE IS HAPPINESS.
Gratitude is a state of mind, a way of seeing things, and a spiritual practice. It enriches my life and focuses my attention on the good. Mindfully, I look for and acknowledge every blessing in my life. I am thankful for clean air and water, knowing they are precious. I am grateful for the love of friends and family. I give thanks that my needs are met—from the basic nece-ssities to my grandest dreams.

When I live in gratitude, I tap into the infinite reservoir of divine good. I experience the fullness of life and recognize God as my source. My first waking thought is gratitude and my final nighttime prayer is thanksgiving. Gratitude is happiness, and I make it my way of life.

I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.—Psalm 9:1

Sometimes, in the midst of trials and troubles,
it is very easy for us to think that we are all alone.

It is very easy for us to believe that there is no help
for us when we in the midst of a "spiritual battle."

We can feel like the fight we are fighting is unlike
anything else ever faced.

We can feel like our struggle is too great,
and there is no relief, nothing that anyone can do,
an no what that this fight ends well.

When are are facing temptation, facing that struggle,
we can feel as though there is no way out, no hope, no chance.

We can feel defeated before the fight has really even began.

Listen to the words of Hebrews 2 today.

Jesus Christ was made like us, walked as we walk,
talked as talk, faced everything we face.

Everything.

If you face it, Jesus faced it. He was tempted
as we were. He faced temptation. He faced struggles.
He faced trials and troubles.

And hear what it says. Because He did this,
He is able to help us in our trials. In our troubles.
In our struggles.

You are not alone. You are not forgotten.
You are not forsaken. You are not alone in this trial.
You are not alone in this trouble. You are not alone in this time.

God is with you. Jesus will uphold you.
The Spirit will strengthen you. His Church will be there for you.

Yes, we face real temptations and trials.

And yes, through Jesus Christ, the God of creation
is there with us, in the midst of them, upholding us.

So, today, when you feel alone, forgotten,
forsaken. Remember, Jesus is there. He faced what
we face, and He has overcome.

And through Him, we will overcome.
Today, may we find our strength in Him.

This is true....I often speak to my sponsies about faith. I also talk about trust. We know who we are, we want instant gratification. That's where trust comes in. I believe so deeply, I trust completely, I trust that the Devine didn't bring me this far to drop me. My mother use to tell me "Don't get anxious about anything, but pray for everthing". When I was young, this was so hard for me to do. We live in such a fast moving society. I had to practice this new way of thinking. In my journey, I face so many expeiences, but by practicing this behavior, I recieved a better understanding, trust. Do tbe best you can and trust in the Devine. Trust as well as believe in him. It's a process lots of trails and era. Today I can feel at peace and stay in the moment.
