Trust in God and Trust in Me

Trust in God and Trust in Me

“Don’t let your heart be troubled, trust in GOD, and trust in me.” John 14:1

As human beings, we often look at life in the here and now and we are troubled by what we see. Jesus was urging his followers to move beyond earthly thinking and to look to the future with hope. In the next verse of this passage, he talks of the mansions that are being prepared for us. He wants us to look ahead and to trust Him with our futures, as well as our present. Jesus tells us we can count on him, just as we can count on God, for they both want the same for our lives, to take us home. We can't let our hearts be troubled by our present surroundings, by the circumstances that feel like they are closing in on us. We must change our focus. Let's look beyond our present afflictions to our future hope of being with the Father who loves us and the Savior who died for us. This present trouble is momentary, but eternity lies before us beckoning us to trust God. It is our choice, will we live in the present trouble and let it overwhelm us or will we trust our Savior and put our lives in the hands of the Almighty and look to the future with hope?

Father, help us to live in hope and not in our present surroundings. Keep our focus on You. We know that the future is brighter than our wildest imaginings. Help us to focus on that. Thank You for working in our lives and those around us and teaching us that we can trust in You. Jesus, thank you, for showing us how to trust God. You lived and died trusting your Father and we know that we can trust you and trust God with our future. Help us to keep our focus where it belongs and let us trust. Amen Quiet Waters
